National Museum of African Art Presents a live archive of the discussion with Grammy - Award Winning Artist Jill Scott

Johnnetta Betsch Cole, director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art was in conversation with Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, New York Times bestselling poet and critically acclaimed actress Jill Scott as part of Cole's Director's Discussion Series. The event was held Friday, Aug. 9, at the Rasmuson Theater in the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Director's Discussion Series features leading public intellectuals, artists and other cultural leaders in conversation with Cole. The series started in 2011 with a discussion between Cole and renowned philosopher Kwame Anthony Appiah of Princeton University. In July 2012, Cole sat down with celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and in February 2013 with poet Maya Angelou.
