El Anatsui b. 1944 Anyako, Ghana El Anatsui trained at the College of Art, University of Science and Technology, in Kumasi, Ghana. He has been teaching at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, since 1975. His art has gained international recognition through exhibitions in Brazil, Japan, Europe, Africa and the United States.
Erosion This piece belongs to a body of work made of freestanding tropical wood pieces that the artist often accents with paints and scars with flames. He began this piece in 1992 at an international artist's workshop in Brazil that coincided with the international Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro.
